Las Dalias Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy basic staples and grains, canned goods, dairy products and personal care items.

Las Dalias Group's story

Maria is a 19 year old single woman with a 9th grade education, She has a neighborhood convenience store in a small community in the department/state of Quiche. She understands the tremendous value of a good education because she was able to attend school through the 9th grade. She shares that she works hard so there are funds for her 3 siblings to attend school! Maria is really grateful that her store is growing considerably. It is time for her to restock the shelves and she is requesting her 3rd loan to buy basic staples and grains, canned goods, dairy products and personal care items.

Maria, along with 6 other ladies, is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Dalias”. The women sell clothing, have small food businesses and convenience stores. They appreciate participating in the “Microcredit Plus”program of loans, education and health care services. Topics like business, health, women’s issues and family matters are essential for their success. Every other month, they have access to health care services like family planning consults, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, PAP smears and breast exams. This is especially important at this time of the pandemic because the health care system in Guatemala is sadly lacking.

Thank you, KIVA investors, for learning about Maria and her friends and for funding their much needed loans!
