Cruzche Iii Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs and feed for them.

Cruzche Iii Group's story

Raising animals is a popular way for many Maya ladies to earn an income. Paulina, a 39 year old married mother of 10 children (1-22), is a very busy lady and dedicated to her animal husbandry business. She raises poultry and pigs that she sells in her local market and to her neighbors. She shares, “I give thanks to KIVA investors and Friendship Bridge for helping me finance my business. It is for this reason that I am requesting my 7th loan.” Paulina plans to buy chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, as well as feed for them.

Paulina, along with 7 other ladies, is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Cruzche III”. They are neighbors in the department/state of Quiche. Paulina was voted to be Secretary of the group, She is a role model for the rest of the women since she is punctual with loan payments and enthusiastic about the goals of the group. At their monthly meetings, these ladies participate in educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. Topics are relevant to their lives and drawn from 4 areas: health, family, women, business. Since the pandemic has hit their area, they have been learning about the importance of washing hands, keeping social distance and wearing masks. They have also learned to use social media to advertise their products and services.

Thank you, KIVA investors, for the essential role you play in the lives of Paulina and her friends!
