Bethel Del Pito Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy raw materials for her snack and clothes business to sell this season.

Bethel Del Pito Group's story

Few Guatemalan women who live in rural areas have the opportunity to go to school, much less to continue on to university. Maria is one of these women because she did not have the opportunity to go to school due to her parents' financial situation. However, she is an entrepreneurial woman and a good manager of her small businesses.

Maria is 35 years old, she is married and has 3 children, aged between 10-18 years. She has a snack business (selling Guatemalan sandwiches) and rears chickens.

After the reopening of the country a few weeks ago, Maria's businesses are improving. That is why she is applying for her first Kiva loan to be able to buy several chickens, increase her inventory of raw materials for her snack business and additionally, she wants to buy clothes stock to sell this season.

Maria and another 12 women are members of the "Bethel del Pito" Communal Bank in a rural area of the department/state of Suchitepequez.

These women benefit greatly during monthly educational sessions which are part of the "Micredito Plus" programme for loans, education and health services. A facilitator shares useful information with them in their meetings about issues such as health, family, women and business administration.

During this challenging time, Maria and her colleagues are grateful for the Kiva lenders who are helping them build a better future for themselves and for their families.

Thank you!
