Yiriwa Group's story

Fatoumata is a Malian woman of 40 and the mother of two children. Outside of housework, Fatoumata also has worked with livestock for the past 3 years with the help of her spouse.

Not possessing the funds to develop her business on her own, Fatoumata has partnered with RMCR in order to develop her work with livestock into her primary source of revenue.

Fatoumata can be seen in the photograph above with the cow. She purchases her livestock from a large marketplace in the neighboring village. She carefully monitors the health of her herd with the advice of a veterinarian and later resells her livestock locally. Fatoumata is usually able to earn at least 45 000 FCFA per head. This income allows her to cover expenses for her children, including their education, healthcare, food, and clothing.

Fatouamta is worried about her business in the face of the Covid-19 crisis. She hopes to increase her financial capital in order to seize this work opportunity for her family.
