Emma's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy bags of kava to stock up and sell in certain kilos to her valuable customers and increase her income.

Emma's story

Emma is a 59-year-old mother of three. Her children are all grown up and have their own families. She lives with her partner in their own home located in a residential area that takes about 10 minutes to drive to Port Vila city. Her community is one of the largest residential areas in the city. Due to COVID-19 affecting the world, Vanuatu has a majority of its population unemployed, making it hard to earn a steady income.

This is Emma's fourth loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has been faithful to repay her previous loans on time. She has requested a loan to buy bags of kava to sell in certain kilos to her valuable customers. Kava being a traditional drink that is drunk during special ceremonies and also in social activities to relax one after a hard day's work.

With the revenue she earns, she will renovate her house. Emma feels empowered to expand her business and become a successful businesswoman.
