Marie Claire's story
Marie Claire is a refugee who has been living in Rwanda since she and her family fled violence in the Congo in 1997. Today, Marie Claire is a mother of four children, all of whom still reside in the camp.
In 2014, Marie Claire started her grocery store to be able to provide more opportunities for her growing family. Since then, Marie Claire’s business has expanded to provide more variety for her customers, such as rice, maize, donuts, and soaps.
She has also fully paid three Kiva loans which helped her to expand her business and become one of the most promising women entrepreneurs in the refugee camp. A loan to Marie Claire will help her purchase larger quantities of inventory and provide the ability to introduce new products to her customers.
