Puot's story

Puot is a young refugee from South Sudan living in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He is a skilled and experienced entrepreneur who owns and runs a grocery food store in the camp. He is also a certified World Food Programme (WFP) food vendor for his fellow refugees.

Puot fled to Kenya in 2002 and, after resettling at the camp, started the business as a way of providing himself with a stable livelihood. He has become well-known within the camp and the business has gained a good reputation and continues to amass a strong base of loyal customers.

Puot benefited from an initial loan with AEC, which he repaid with ease and on time. He is requesting subsequent financing to increase stock items for the business and hence continue providing the community with more consumption options, while at the same time growing his business further
