Agnes's story

I was born and raised in a small town in Southern Hungary. Growing up, surrounded by wonderful women like my Mom, a lover of fashion and vintage clothing, who used to sew her own outfits and taught me how to stitch by hand at an early age, my Aunt who is an excellent artisan and expert of traditional embroidery and my Grandmother who introduced me to hand knitting, has greatly influenced me to develop a natural interest and appreciation for textiles, craft, and clothing. The love and respect of nature and interest in Botanics and sustainability come from my father who took us to natural reserves and arboretums and provided us plant-based food from his home garden. After studying art and literature, I ended up switching careers and graduated in knitwear design in 2010 at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Hungary. In 2011, I traveled to Puerto Rico for the first time, with the original plan of staying for three months as a fellow artist of a San Juan based art organization. I fell In love with the Island, its rich culture, and the closeness of the ocean and tropical flora and ended up staying. In 2012, I established my brand Agnes Anna Studio, starting as a slow fashion clothing line, evolving into a textile studio. Its evolution and development have been the main goal of my life since then, keeping me motivated in good and bad times.
