Florence's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, as well as a solar light.

Florence's Group's story

Florence, pictured above, has seven children and is representing her group, formed by 11 farmers in Kakamega B (North) District, Kenya. She joined One Acre Fund for the first time in 2012 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to be more active in her community.

With a portion of this loan, Florence will purchase not only maize seeds and fertilizer for the coming harvesting season but also a solar light.

Receiving a solar light as part of her loan means that now she will be able to have light during dark hours for her children to be able to study. Florence plans to use the profits she gains this year to send her children to school.

In total, Florence’s Group will use the inputs received from this loan to plant a total of nine acres of land. The group will also receive a total of four solar lights.
