Marcel Junior's story
Marcel is a 32 year old micro entrepreneur and resident of the municipality of Barranquilla, He has been a merchant for 11 years. He earns his living selling low, medium and high end cellphones and above all accessories and cellphone parts. In this manner he has improved his income and quality of living. This business was a family business which he learned little by little until he decided to go independent and at the same time study and work on perfecting the business. He bought his first display cases and merchandise with his savings and loans that he made with financial institutions. He also had the opportunity to buy a machine to download material and make photocopies. In his area he had no competition and this made his business very profitable. Marcel has now joined the “Barranquilla Responde” program with the goal of easing the crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic a little. He is requesting a loan from Kiva, the first financing he has made from the Fundación Santo Domingo, He will invest in the purchase of cellphone accessories like cases, chargers, USB cables, low-end cellphones, and bluetooth devices amongst others.
