Sulia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to plow their plantation and also hire men to help with processing the kava.

Sulia's story

Sulia and her husband run a kava trading business. Kava is part of our traditional culture, and it is very important. It is the Tongan beer that is used in important ceremonies as a meeting point for men discussing important issues.

They have three teenagers in which they all attend high school. In their plantation, they grow kava and also some crops just for the family. She sells the kava from their home.

Kava has to be grown until it is four years old so it is mature enough for using. It is then harvested and smashed by a machine, turning the solid wood to kava powder ready for use.

Sulia applies for a loan because they need to hire men to help her husband with the processing of the kava and also to plow their plantation for the next planting.

Their vision is to build a stable financial future for their three children.
