Amigas De Corazón Group's story

María is 37 years old and married. Her husband is a farmer and laborer. They have three beautiful children, two of whom are in school. Her other child is independent and already contributes to the national economy by working on one of the farms that is near where they live.

María has a small grocery store where she sells basic necessity products. While walking in the mountains and harvesting coffee in the rain, she was motivated by the idea to establish her own business. This business is located at her house and is open from 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. María is requesting a Kiva loan from FUNDENUSE to buy basic grains, sweets, soap, detergent, bread, and other products to sell at her store. She dreams of building a retail shop since she currently operates her business out of the living room of her home.

María is a part of the solidarity group “Amigas de Corazón” with the following members:
• Yadira makes and sells tortillas, ground coffee, and Nicaraguan tamales.
• Marbely also has a small grocery store.
