Tokanga's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pandanus leaves for her weaving business and pay shipping fees to send her products overseas.

Tokanga's story

Meet Tokanga. She is 31 years old, married, and has three children. Tokanga and her family live in their own home on the island of Vava'u.

She joined a group of women who weave ta’ovala [traditional Tongan garments] and mats together. Tokanga exports her finished products overseas to her sister so that they can be sold at a better price. Her family depends on her business. Weaving in a group enables her to produce more products faster with little time.

Tokanga applied for a loan to buy enough pandanus leaves for her weaving business and also to pay the export fees for shipping her products. With this loan, she can help minimize her problem of not meeting her customers’ demands due to a lack of pandanus leaves for her weaving. Her dream is to make her business successful so that her family can rely on a stable and steady income.
