Concepción Group's story
Amada is 54 years old, mother to seven children and a widow.
Amada started her business, a bread shop, making "nacatamales" (maize, meat and rice wrapped in banana leaf), and selling dairy products 30 years ago. She has another business, a grocery shop and selling pork, but she closed it owing to low sales.
Amada is applying for a Fundenuse loan financed by Kiva funds to buy basic supplies to produce her goods. She can then take advantage of the Christmas season.
Amada's next goal is to re-start her business selling meat. In the longer term, she wants to open a dairy-processing business.
Amada is a member of the "Concepcion" loan group, alongside Maria, who makes a living baking and selling bread; Lucia, who makes and sells doughnuts; and Reyna, who sells shoes and cosmetics.
