Esmeraldas De Cantel Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped ,Fidelina, to buy threads, fabrics and another machine.

Esmeraldas De Cantel Group's story

Fidelina is a 40-year-old mother of 4 children, ages 10-19. She became a widow 10 years ago. She is concerned for the welfare of her children. She has a second grade education and lives in the department / state of Quetzaltenango. Fidelina and her two older children run a traditional embroidery business. Now with the revival of the economy in Guatemala, they are able to travel. They can then sell their products in other communities. Fedelina and her children want to take advantage of the New Year's celebrations to earn a little more income. That is why she is applying for her first Kiva loan. She needs to buy thread, fabric and another machine.

Fidelina is a member of the communal bank "Esmeraldas de Cantel". There are 6 other women in the group who speak Mayan "K'iche". Their businesses range from weaving typical clothes, embroidery, raising animals to selling fruit. These women look forward to their monthly meetings, where they make their loan payments and then participate in the educational training sessions, which are part of Friendship Bridge's "Microcredit Plus" programme. This is a combination of education, microcredit and health services. The topics are drawn from 4 important areas: business management, family, women and health. No doubt these women will learn a lot during their loan cycle.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for continuing to support the progress of these women microentrepreneurs in Guatemala.
