Sagrado Corazon Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a stove, kitchen utensils and spices.

Sagrado Corazon Group's story

Judith is a 39-year-old hardworking entrepreneur. She works with her husband preparing and selling food and working as a street vender. She has seven children who range in age from eight to 20. Judith shares, “having started my business of selling recipes five years ago, I’ve been able to help cover household expenses and I’m sending all of my children to primary and secondary schools.”

Judith is requesting a loan to buy a stove, kitchen utensils and spices. This will be her first Kiva loan. Judith is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Sagrado Corazon” (Sacred Heart). There are eight women in her loan group who sell meat like chicken, pork and beef as well as sell prepared food and raising animals. Group members meet monthly for educational training and learn to manage their businesses effectively and learn about business planning, investing and saving. The ladies also learn about health, hygiene and nutrition. This is especially important during this time of the pandemic. Group members share information about washing hands, wearing masks and social distance with family and friends. The women also have access to basic health care services which is especially important in Guatemala, where the healthcare system is sadly lacking.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for your kindness in lending a helping hand to Judith and her friends. They are poised to step into a brighter future!
