Thanh Luong 35 Group's story

Phieu, 41 years old, is a Thai ethnic woman who is married and has three daughters. The two oldest daughters are working far away, while the youngest daughter is in 5th grade. Her family lives in a house on stilts in a poor village in Dien Bien province, which is in the northwest mountains of Vietnam.

She and her husband are farmers, who do some work to generate income for the family, such as growing rice, raising two buffaloes, as well as raising chickens and ducks. She knew about the Anh Chi Em program and received loans from it. With the use of these loans for the right purpose, and with the enthusiastic support of the program's staff combined with her own efforts and experience, after eight loans, her family's lives have improved.

She decided to continue and request her ninth loan from the program to invest in buying chickens and ducks. She hopes with this loan, she will successfully repay it and earn profits. With interest, she will continue to reinvest in buying pigs, cows or buffaloes.
