Shangilieni Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a supply of nails, locks, electric cables etc. to strengthen her initial capital.

Shangilieni Group's story

Deodate is a client with the microfinance institution Hekima and represents the village group "Shangilieni". She is 54 years old, married and has 11 children; 3 are still going to school and 8 of them are already responsible for themselves. Her partner is a tradesman.

She established her business selling hardware 28 years ago using start-up funds she got from her husband. Later she got involved with the Hekima program to support her business, which has been developing progressively. With this new loan, she will stock up on nails, locks, electric cables etc. which will strengthen her initial capital. The challenge of her business is linked to governmental taxes.

She would like her children to continue their studies, Finally, she wishes to thank Hekima and its partners for the support shown to business owners without access to traditional banking facilities in the context of the global crisis caused by covid-19.

The photo shows only the group representative because of covid-19 restrictions.
