Tikal Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more chickens and feed.

Tikal Group's story

Juana, a 33-year-old married mother of an 11-year-old son, raises/sells poultry. She uses part of her income to send her son to school because she understands the tremendous importance of an education. She is a popular vendor in her local market and is happy that her business is growing!

With her 9th Kiva loan, Juana would like to buy more chickens and feed for them. This is an especially busy time of the year with celebrations/holidays approaching. She will have the opportunity to meet the high demand of her customers.

Juana and 7 other ladies participate in the Friendship Bridge “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education, and health care services. They are neighbors in the department/state of Quiche. They value their monthly meetings where, during the educational segments, they acquire knowledge centered around business, family, women, and health.

At this challenging time of the pandemic, their Facilitator communicates with them by phone, cell phone, or WhatsApp. Especially emphasized are the importance of wearing masks, keeping social distance, and disinfecting surfaces.

Every other month, a visiting nurse offers all kinds of health exams and family planning consults. This is especially important since health care services are scarce in Guatemala.

Because of the effective partnership between Kiva and Friendship Bridge, Juana and her friends are poised to step into a brighter future. Thank you, Kiva investors, for lending a helping hand!
