A loan helped to buy more food stock items for the store.

Hawa's story

Hawa, a refugee and experienced entrepreneur from Somalia, owns and runs a food store at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. She arrived in Kenya in 2009 and after settling started the business in 2012. As the sole bread-winner, the store has been providing a stable livelihood for her large family of nine.

The store has grown considerably over the past few years and continues to build itself a loyal base of customers at the camp. This has necessitated Hawa's expansion into the boutique business. The store now serves the community with both food and shoes at affordable prices.

Hawa actively underwent holistic entrepreneurship trainings with AEC, geared towards financial management and increasing sales for the business. She's requesting a loan to enable her to expand her business even further. A loan will enable her to purchase additional food stock items for the business.

This will ensure Hawa continues providing the community with more consumption options, while at the same time growing her business.
