Nyota Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock up on pagnes [traditional clothing] in bulk, which will strengthen her initial capital.

Nyota Group's story

Mamy is a customer of the Hekima MFI and leader of the village group "Nyota". She is married, 43 years old, and the mother of six children, two of whom are in school and four already independent; her partner is unemployed.

She is a seller of pagnes [traditional decorated clothing fabric], having set up this business 15 years ago with start-up funds received from her older sister. Later she joined the Hekima programme for business support, over the course of which she has progressively developed.

With this new loan, she will stock up on pagnes in bulk, which will build on her initial capital. The challenge in this work is related to unpaid debts. She would like her children to continue to study and she would like to feed her family.

Finally, she wishes to thank Hekima and partners for their support of non-bankable business owners in this context of the global COVID-19 crisis. The photo is only of the group leader because of COVID-19, in line with social distancing measures.
