La Joya Del Nilo Group's story

Meet the entrepreneurs of "La Joya del Nilo" [The jewel of the Nile], a communal bank located in the community of San Francisco de Masaya, Nicaragua.

Ana Matilde (in front, wearing white shorts and pink blouse) one of the 9 members of this group is 48 years old "I have always fought, I proposed for a loan because I wanted to have my own business. I achieved it and I have kept it" she says proud of her achievements.

She works with her husband selling backpacks and handbags in the eastern market. In the context of the pandemic she diversified her business to survive. "I was making soup and nacatamales to keep the business going. Since I did well, I decided to sell ice cream and fresh produce, and when I saw it, I had a little shop. She needs a loan for both businesses. Because her dream is to continue working and multiplying her sales.

"I like everything about my business, turning the money around. I request the loan according to what I will need in the business" she concludes.
