Piramide Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorants, shampoo and soap at wholesale cost.

Piramide Group's story

Empowered women, like 56-year-old Antonia, can choose their own path toward a brighter future. She has been the sole provider of two children who are now adults. She has two businesses: selling clothing and personal care products. She is proud that her income enabled her to fund the secondary education of both children.

Every year, Antonia strives to make improvements in her businesses. She wants to restock her inventory of available personal care products and buy more toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorants, shampoo and soap at wholesale cost.

Antonia and seven other women, who live in a rural area in the department of Quetzaltenango, formed the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Piramide”. In their monthly educational sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, they receive education and health care services, and learn to manage their businesses selling clothing, flowers, personal care products and prepared foods.

They appreciate learning about health, hygiene, nutrition and the use of medicinal plants. They have also acquired information about advertising their products on the internet using Facebook and WhatsApp! This has been especially important in the time of the pandemic because many markets are closed or have shorter hours. Public transportation was shut down for a while. Every other month, they have access to basic health care services like hypertension and blood sugar screenings, breast exams, PAP smears and family planning consults.
