A loan helped to purchase fish and other assorted items to increase her business.

Katty's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is Katty, a 37-year-old client of the Aberdeen branch. She is widowed and has three children between the ages 6 and 16, all of whom are in school. Katty started her business so that she can be financially stable enough to support her family and improve her life.

She runs a retail shop where she sells fish and other assorted items. Katty has been in this business for the past four years. Her other source of income is derived from other family members. Her main challenge is dealing with occasional slow sales as a result of COVID-19.

Katty requested a loan from BRAC Sierra Leone Leone to purchase fish and other assorted items to increase her business. She says that the extra income that results from this loan will help to improve her business so that she can take care of her family and pay for her children’s education.

In the future, she would like to establish her business on a larger scale. She expresses her thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
