but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, which she will use to improve her production and earn more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession.

Lucy's story

Lucy is a 39-year-old woman who lives in Embu, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favour large-scale crop farming. She is a mixed farmer who has been in this business for the past few years. Through farming, she has been able to meet the basic needs of her family.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is at the forefront of supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs during this difficult period.

Lucy is requesting this loan to buy farm inputs, which she will use to improve her production and earn more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession. She is hopeful that Kiva lenders are adhering to safety measures during the pandemic.
