Piedras Preciosas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy corn, meat, butter, potatoes, tomato, capsicum, onion, firewood, etc.

Piedras Preciosas Group's story

Petrona is 63 years old, married and the mother of 5 farmers who are all independent adults. She has been made a living producing and selling “nacatamales” (Nicaraguan style tamales or steamed corncakes) for 42 years. She has also been selling bread and enchiladas. Petrona has the support of her husband who is a farmer. With the previous loan she received through Kiva funds, she managed to increase her sales and therefore her income since she was able to make more of her nacatamales because she bought the raw material wholesale and at a lower price.

Petrona requests a Kiva loan with Fundenuse to buy raw materials to increase her sales of nacatamales and continue strengthening herself in this area and in this way increase her profits and provide better living conditions for her family. Her future plans are to buy an industrial oven to make bread.

Petrona belongs to the solidarity group "Piedras preciosas" together with María who has a mini grocery store, selling icy poles, and fresh products, and Carolina who makes a living baking and selling bagged bread.
