Luz Elena's story

Luz Elena is a 47-year-old microentrepreneur who lives in the city of Barranquilla with her family. This entrepreneur, with great effort, dedication and drive, opened her restaurant business where she offers a very select menu of rib soup, pigeon pea soup, tripe soup, corn soup, roasts and daily menus. She has over 5 years of experience making the dishes. This business came from the necessity of generating income to sustain her household.

This business was growing gradually, getting excellent results and profits. Her primary customers are friends, neighbors, passersby, and people referred to her. Due to the restrictions because of the pandemic, her business was affected, reducing demand. She supported herself by selling by phone and social media to keep herself going. But, thanks to the economic reopening, her orders are increasing as well as the income generated.

Currently, she is applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing through Fundación Santo Domingo, resources which she will invest in the purchase of supplies such as meat, ribs, chicken, vegetables, rice, sugar, salt, garlic, plates, cutlery, etc.

This merchant needs an injection of capital to strengthen her business. She wants to fix up her restaurant and extend the menu she offers to fill her customers' orders in a timely way and attract new ones. In this way, she will have greater productivity and an increase in her income. Support her in her loan, it will be a success.
