Kawral Medina Mary Cisse Group's story

Assietou is the president of this group of 18 women called "Avec Kawral Medina Mary Cisse", which means "entente" in Peul, the local language of Senegal. Assietou is shown on the picture preparing to tie up her two goats. She is 46 years old, married and has one son and two daughters who all go to school. Her husband is a farmer.

Assietou does not have formal education but dreams of generating a lot of income through her farming activities. She needs a loan from a financial institution to achieve her goal. With this loan, she wants to buy sheep, goats and feed. She buys the animals at weekly markets in surrounding villages, and resells them there as well. This will allow her to support her husband and children with their education, clothing, health and wellbeing.

She has been working in this field for over ten years as it plays an important role in the region. This is also why she formed a group to request loans.
