Flor De Tuluche Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of traditional skirts that are in fashion.

Flor De Tuluche Group's story

Guatemala is a country that has colorful textiles. The majority are made by artisans using a loom. This machine helps to combine and weave threads to create regional fabrics. It is an art that has transcended generations with one industrious woman behind each loom. Many women have turned this type of work into successful businesses.

Juana is one of them. She is a 37 year old married woman and the mother of six children over the age of eight. She has a different vision of the future for her family. She makes her living selling beautiful "cortes" or traditional skirts. She says, "Thanks to my business I help my husband with the education of my six children. I want them to have everything they need for a complete education; the education I could not have".

To achieve this goal Juana is preparing to expand the inventory of her business. She plans to buy a variety of new, fashionable cortes. This will be possible with the second Kiva loan that she is requesting.

There are eight women who are part of the Flor de Tuluche community bank and they come from a rural department in Quiché. These women will be expanding their knowledge with training on topics such as finance, health, women's issues, and family. Theses are benefits they have access to in the Microcredit Plus program with Friendship Bridge.

Thank you Kiva lenders for trusting and funding this important loan so they can move ahead with their development.
