A loan helped to procure alfalfa and corn for animal feed to continue to make milk products.

Lidia's story

Lidia is a 53-year-old woman from Văratic village, Riscani region of Moldova. She is married and has a large and united family.

For eight years, together with her two sons, she developed a small business in agriculture. She raised goats and cows. Lidia is passionate about her profession, which she practices with enthusiasm and dedication.

This year has been a dry one, and the food Lidia has is insufficient to feed the animals during the winter. She needs to buy alfalfa and corn. Due to the drought, the volume of cheese and milk production was lower than in previous years. As a result, her income was also affected, being lower than the one planned at the beginning of the year. Thus, because Lidia does not have enough money, she decided to apply for a loan from Kiva sources. As a result, she will continue to develop her farm and will be able to further produce quality dairy products to feed her family and to obtain income for a better life.
