Pha's story

Pha is a farmer and has child who is attending school. He lives with his family in the area of Kralanh district, Siem Reap province. Pha works in agriculture and owns and manages a few hectares of farmland growing and harvesting rice crops and agriculture produce seasonally.

He has the responsibility in his agriculture business of driving and operating rice-farm machinery to prepare land, till soil, build ditches and levees, and harvest rice crop. He also hitches farm implements to the tractor, and drives the tractor along existing swaths and contours of rice field to plow and level fields and build or shore up ditches and levees of flood-irrigation system.

He earns additional income by working as construction worker. He is responsible for assisting tradesman on construction sites such as carpenters, bricklayers, demolition experts, drywallers, cement finishers, and roofers. He unloads and loads materials, and assists in drilling and blasting.

With little income from construction, Pha hasn’t been able to save enough money to care for the needs of his family, so at this time he is asking for a loan of USD 1,700 to purchase seed, fertilizer and to pay to plow the field to improve farming productivity. Realizing the importance of the income that he gathers from agribusiness, the loan will greatly assist him to enlarge the farm and ensure a better life for his family.
