A loan helped to purchase a secondhand motorcycle to travel around her village for selling grocery produces.

Solang's story

Solang is 36 years old and married. She lives with her family located in the area of Kralanh district, Siem Reap province. She has been a farmer and working in the agriculture business for many years.

Solang and her husband are considering the challenges of low yield due to pest and disease attack on cultivated crops, poor level of mechanized agricultural activities, product processing and storage. Agricultural produce is an essential demand and it means a lot for survival of her family members, as it plays a greater role in almost all aspect of life.

Because of the phenomenon of Covid-19, her income from selling agriculture produces decreased as the customers in her community reduced their demand. These are affecting prices and making her lose income generating opportunities.

She decides to sell grocery produce to earn additional income. Due to the insufficient finance, she has applied a loan in the amount of KHR 10,000,000 to purchase a secondhand motorcycle to travel around her village to sell grocery produces.

Her grocery produce includes grocery items, snack foods, sweets, powders, canned food, noodles, and miscellaneous household things. She can save some money for use in the future needs.

Solang hopes that her income will be better through using the loan from Kiva lenders.
