Lay's story

Lay, age 25, is married and lives with her husband in the area of Bakan district, Pursat province. Lay and her husband help each other to enhance the family's income by having the occupation of cultivating rice crops and other agriculture products seasonally. Every day, Lay and her husband plant and supply enough seeds and fertilizers for the rice crops and other agriculture crops by spending more than eight hours at the farmlands. The farming business is the main source of her family's economics. With her hard effort, she can earn approximately of USD $8 per day, which will have to cover the expense of daily meals, clothes, medicine and her children's education fees.

Because of the shortage of her finances, she has applied for a loan in the amount of KHR 3,000,000 to pay for land filling around her house. With this loan support, she can pay for land filling and can provide her family members with a good environment, fresh air, and protect them from illness by living in good conditions. She also can cover the mud around her house, pay for labor costs and save some money to use for future needs.

In the future, she aims to renovate her old house and purchase more land for agriculture purposes. She sends thanks to all the lenders who have contributed their funds to help poor people like her, and she promises to pay the loan back on time, as scheduled.
