Martha's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her business by purchasing more bundles of fish in order to meet her customers' needs.

Martha's story

Martha is a 36-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and two children in the Isoka district in Zambia.

Martha runs a business selling dried fish. With her first Kiva loan, she restocked her inventory to subsequently increase her sales. She used the profit she earned to provide for her family's basic needs.

Martha is requesting a second Kiva loan in order to expand her business by purchasing more bundles of fish to meet her customers' needs. She plans to use the profit she earns to take care of her mother and pay her children's school fees.

Martha will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED business mentor, leading sessions to teach less experienced local women how to become successful entrepreneurs by developing their business acumen and sharing the lessons she learned from operating her business.
