Noor's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to increase working capital for purchase of additional grocery and food stock for the business.

Noor's story

Noor is a refugee, but more than that he is a father of two, a husband, and an industrious skilled entrepreneur with a proven track record of success. He owns and runs a grocery store at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Since starting the business in 2018, it has gained a good reputation in the camp and, as a result, has been able to build a base of loyal clientele overtime.

Noor fled the violence in his native home of Somalia due to political insecurities in 1999 with his family. After resettling at the Kakuma Refugee Camp, he saw the need to start the business to provide his fellow refugees and the host community with affordable grocery and food items, while allowing him a stable source of income. The store has experienced considerable growth over the past two years and he has been able to increase on the initial inventory. The store has also been able to accommodate one employee to help in its running.

After actively participating in AEC’s business training program focused on improving financial management and increasing sales, Noor is requesting a loan to grow the business even further. This loan will help increase his working capital so as to enable him to purchase additional groceries and food stock for the business. This will ensure that he continues providing the community with more grocery and food options, while at the same time allowing growth and continuity for his business.
