A loan helped to purchase additional inventory of electronics for his business.

Michael's story

Michael is a skilled, seasoned and experienced Kenyan entrepreneur who owns and runs an electronics store at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. The business is strategically located to serve both the refugees and the host community with quality electronics at affordable prices.

Since starting the business in 2013, it has gained a good reputation in the camp and has a strong base of loyal customers. The business has grown considerably over the past years as a result of the ever-increasing demand for affordable quality electronics. He has been able to employ one staff member at the store to help in running the business as a result.

Michael was a beneficiary of a first loan from AEC which he used to add stock for the store. He successfully repaid the loan with ease and is now looking to getting a subsequent loan in order to further increase his working capital to enable him to purchase additional inventory of electronics to meet the demand at the camp. This will enable him to continue providing the community with more options, and at the same time continue providing a stable means of livelihood for his family of seven.
