Henry's story

Henry is a father of three, a husband and a skilled Kenyan entrepreneur who owns and runs a grocery-store business at the Kakuma Refugee Camp. The business is strategically and conveniently located to serve both the refugees and the host community with grocery and food items at affordable prices.

He moved to Kakuma in 2014 from Meru and established the business soon after as a way of providing a stable means of livelihood for his family. To date, the business continues to amass itself a strong base of loyal customers with its good reputation. The business has also experienced steady growth over the past years, and as a result, has been able to accommodate one additional employee to help in its running.

Henry actively underwent AEC’s business training program focused on financial management and increasing sales. He was able to successfully apply the skills acquired from the training in running the business which now boasts improved cashflows and efficiency.

He is requesting loan in order to increase his working capital to enable him to purchase additional inventory of grocery and food items for the business. The financing will enable him serve the community with more consumption options, while allowing him the opportunity to keep providing a better life for his family.
