Mujeres Con Proposito Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more used clothing for men, women and children.

Mujeres Con Proposito Group's story

The sales of used clothing from the United States provides income for 24-year-old Rocisela. She lives in a rural area in the department/state of Chimaltenango. Rocisela is married and the mother of a 3-year-old son. She shares that she owes her success to the support of her husband, and because she has learned to effectively manage her business.

She explains, “In order to have a successful business, capital must be invested. That is why I am requesting my first Kiva loan. I plan to buy second-hand clothing for women, men and children. With a replenished inventory, I will offer more choices to my customers.”

Rocisela is the President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres con Proposito”. Each month, she calls the meeting to order, and the six other ladies in the group make loan payments and then participate in educational training sessions. Topics are relevant to their lives and are drawn from four areas: business, women, family, health.

Since the start of the pandemic, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on wearing masks, sanitizing surfaces and keeping social distance. Every two months, the women have access to basic health care services delivered by a visiting nurse. Friendship Bridge calls this effective combination of loans, education and health care “Microcredit Plus”.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for lending a helping hand to Rocisela and her friends. With your help, they are stepping into a brighter future!
