Alice's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her farming business by buying more garden equipment, fertilizer, and seedlings.

Alice's story

Alice is a 32-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and child in the Mpika district in Zambia. Alice grows tomatoes and onions on her own farm. She also sells shoes at the market.

With her first Kiva loan, Alice restocked her inventory to subsequently increase her sales for her shoe business. Alice is now requesting a second loan in order to expand her farming business by buying more garden equipment, fertilizer, and seedlings. She plans to use the profit she earns to continue supporting two orphaned girls through school.

Alice will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as an Early Childhood Education Guide, leading sessions to teach less experienced local women how to become successful entrepreneurs by developing their business acumen and sharing the lessons she learned from operating her business.
