A loan helped to increase cereals stock at his store.

Patrick's story

Patrick is an innovative and skilled entrepreneur living at the Kalobeyei Resettlement Scheme in Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp. After fleeing violence in his native home in Burundi in 2015, Patrick started his business, and it has grown considerably over the years, providing a means of livelihood to his family, and, at the same time, employment for five individuals.

Patrick was the beneficiary of an AEC loan that he used to expand his posho-mill business and butchery. He also used the loan to start stocking dry cereals at his grocery store. He successfully repaid the loan with ease and is now requesting a subsequent loan in order to increase his working capital and add more cereals at his store. This will enable him meet the ever-growing demand for such food items within the camp.
