Las Orquideas Sacatepequez Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more blouses, pants and shoes for men, women and children.

Las Orquideas Sacatepequez Group's story

Due to the end-of-the-year holidays and celebrations, this is a popular time of the year for the sale of clothing. Ana has been selling secondhand clothing and shoes for more than 10 years. She is 46 years old and married with an 11-year-old son. Ana only has a primary school education but is keenly aware of the value of a formal education. With her income, she is able to send her son to school. With a Kiva loan, Ana can purchase more shirts, pants and shoes for women, men and children. She shares that she is pleased to be able to access an increasing amount of capital.

Ana is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Orquideas Sacatepequez” along with six other women. They live in a rural area in the department/state of Sacatepequez. The ladies sell lumber, traditional textiles and clothing/shoes. They learn to manage their Kiva loans in the monthly meetings when a facilitator shares information about business, health, women’s issues and family matters. At the present time, they are reminded about the importance of wearing masks, washing hands, sanitizing surfaces and keeping social distance. Because of the pandemic, their facilitator has communicated with them via cell phone or WhatsApp. Every two months, they have access to health care services. The women appreciate this combination of loan support, educational trainings and health care services called “Microcredit Plus”.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for your kindness in funding these essential loans!
