Martha's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her business by purchasing more chicken feed to maintain a healthy product.

Martha's story

Martha is a 30-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents and child in the Mpika district in Zambia. She rears and sells chickens.

With her first Kiva loan, she restocked her inventory which subsequently increased her sales. Martha is requesting a second loan to expand her business by purchasing more chicken feed to maintain a healthy product. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family, build a house and support two orphaned girls through school.

Martha will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a Camfed Peer Educator, leading life skills sessions for students in local schools on topics such as rights and choices, choosing a career path and active citizenship.
