Mombotwa's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her business by buying more chicken feed and feeders.

Mombotwa's story

Mombotwa is a 35-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her daughter in the Mpika district in Zambia. She rears and sells broiler chickens.

With her first Kiva loan, she replenished her inventory, which increased her sales and now her business is thriving. Mombotwa is requesting a second loan in order to expand her business by buying more chicken feed. Due to her success, Mombotwa is busier than ever. The second loan will also empower her to hire much-needed staff to ensure that her business runs smoothly. She plans to use the profit she earns to do charity work in her community.

Mombotwa will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a Camfed Business Mentor, leading sessions to teach less-experienced local women how to become successful entrepreneurs by developing their business acumen and sharing the lessons she learned from operating her business.
