San Pedranas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy shoes and clothing via catalogue sales.

San Pedranas Group's story

Sandra, a 45 year old married mother of 2 children (ages 11 and 15) is a very busy woman! She works in an accounting office and in her free time, sells shoes and clothing via catalogue sales. Her co-workers in the office, as well as her neighbors, are her customers. Sandra’s children have been able to attend school because of her income. Since the holidays are fast approaching, Sandra wants to have plenty of inventory on hand and is requesting her 2nd Kiva loan to buy clothing and shoes for women, men and children.

Sandra lives in a rural area in the department/state of Suchitepequez. She is the president of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “San Pedranas” and there are 8 other ladies in the group. It is her job to call the monthly meetings to order. The women make loan payments and then a facilitator conducts an educational training relevant to their lives. Topics like good nutrition and hygiene practices are essential to the health of the women and their families. They learn about healthy habits and how to navigate through the pandemic. The ladies also learn about effective business management practices that help them run their convenience stores, prepared food businesses and sales of clothing and shoes. Mobile health services, staffed by a visiting nurse, come to them every other month. This useful combination of loans, education and health care is called “Microcredit Plus”.

Sandra and her friends send their gratitude to Kiva lenders. Thank you!
