Anita's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy thread and clothing materials.

Anita's story

Anita is 27 years old and lives in the town of Maganjo in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, with three of them currently in school. For the past five years, Anita has been working hard to manage her tailoring business, where she sews and sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Anita has requested a loan of 900,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy thread and clothing materials, and will help Anita to generate greater profits.

Anita will be able to realize more profits from her expanded business and also afford more basic needs at home, hence improving her standard of living.

Anita hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a water tank and start selling water.

Anita is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
