A loan helped to buy more stock for her retail store and pandanus for her weaving.

'Aho's story

'Aho is 62 years old, married to a farmer with nine grown children. Their youngest four live with them. As a family, they run a retail store in their front yard.

She also runs a weaving business, spending every day on the veranda weaving while caring for their retail store. She can see when there's a customer in the store from her veranda.

'Aho is supported by her husband and their grown children. From their store, they sell different goods and meat, suitable for the daily needs of the people in the village. Their island is remote from the mainland of Tonga and they travel by little boats to the mainland. 'Aho's is the only store on the island and it serves its people well.

She weaves mats only and sells them on the mainland. 'Aho applied for a loan to purchase more stock for her retail store and pandanus for her weaving.
