A loan helped To purchase more mushroom seedlings.

Step By Step Group, Mukono's story

38-year-old N. Madrine has, for the last fourteen years, been going out of her way to obtain a firm footing in a competitive farming business in Kitega in Mukono. She mostly grows and sells mushrooms and, if it was not for her hard work, she would almost be courting failure after fourteen years. Her sense of determination meant she had to embrace an “all hands to the plough” approach to come to grips with the ominous odds that presented themselves in her mushroom farming business. Madrine is at a point in her business where her resilience and experience are, to all intents and purposes, winning. With profits from her business, she has been able to shoulder all her family responsibilities. Every month her business generates her profits to the tune of 200,000 shillings. She also ekes out profits from rental apartments she constructed with her husband. With this loan, Madrine is looking at buying more mushroom seedlings.
