Vera Neida's story

Vera Neida is 65 years old, and she is a married entrepreneur with two children. She resides in the municipality of Juan de Acosta. She earns a living by making clothing. She has been perfecting this work for the past 20 years, a job that she initially started by working in her parents' tailor shop. Later, she became an independent seamstress with the help of relatives who commissioned her to fill orders.

As she continued learning new techniques for making clothes, she took courses virtually and in-person with SENA. There, she started to make contacts with commercial clothing and accessory businesses, which allowed her to gain notoriety for the quality of her work.

Thanks to Vera's affinity for sewing and design, she works with dedication, happiness, and effort to give her clothes that touch of delicateness, elegance, and precision in her needlework. Her customers like her work so much, so this increases her inventory and orders.

Due to the pandemic, her sales were affected, and subsequently, so was her income. For this reason, she is searching for a way to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. She is now applying for a CrediKiva loan —the first financing that she is requesting from Fundación Santo Domingo— so that she can invest in the purchase of: cloth, accessories, decorative iron pieces, clothing that is both complete and in-process, and labor.

Vera hopes to increase her productivity so that she can improve her income. To accomplish this, she needs a boost of capital to strengthen her business plan. Support her in this loan; she will be a success.
