Adama's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is Adama, who is 48 years old and a client from the Waterloo branch. She is married and has a 22-year-old child who is in school. Adama also has two other relatives who are dependent on her. She started her business in order to support her family.

Adama has a retail business where she sells provisions and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 10 years. Adama generates additional income from her rental properties. Her main challenge is dealing with occasional slow sales as a result of COVID-19.

Adama is requesting a loan from BRAC Sierra Leone to buy provisions such as sugar, milk, Ovaltine, cocoa, sardines, and other assorted products to increase her business. She says that the extra income that results from this loan will be used to improve her business and provide for her family’s welfare. In the future, she would like to establish her business on a larger scale. She expresses her thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
