A loan helped to purchase foodstuffs to increase her business, such as rice, pepper, Maggi, onions, fish, oil, palm oil, flour, chicken and other assorted items.

Kadiatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 38-year-old Kadiatu from the Waterloo branch. She is married and has two children between the ages of e and 7 years old, one of whom is attending school.

She started her business to support her family. Fatmata runs a retail business selling foodstuffs, such as palm oil, Maggi, fish, pepper, onions, and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past seven years. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes, during COVID 19.

Kadiatu requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs to increase her business, such as rice, pepper, Maggi, onions, fish, oil, palm oil, flour, chicken and other assorted items. She says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and her family's welfare. In the future, she would like to establish it on a larger scale. She says thanks to Brac and Kiva for their support.
